Event highlights
Earlier this month, The Cupcake Avenue hosted a free cupcake decorating class at Bevington Primary School to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. With Platinum Jubilee street parties set to take place across the nation, cupcake decorating classes were a great way to build momentum in my local community in a fun, creative and engaging way.
The session was offered to the primary school’s Year 6 cohort and Year 4 SEND students, providing each pupil with an opportunity to design and decorate their very own Jubilee-themed cupcake.
Bevington Primary’s Year 6 Teacher, Alexandra Brown, said: “The Cupcake Avenue hosted a very well-organised and superbly engaging cupcake decoration class in honour of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The children thoroughly enjoyed the decorating process, and The Cupcake Avenue could not have been kinder. Baking is a huge part of our school's Food Technology curriculum and the children learnt some really good skills during the session.”
Students said:
“I loved decorating the cupcakes, there were so many different sprinkles and toppings to choose from!”
“I didn't know there were so many different ways you could decorate a cupcake, and I learnt lots of them during the morning session.”
70 vanilla cupcakes were donated to Bevington Primary School by the bakery to honour Her Majesty The Queen’s 70 years of service. Pupils were able to select from an eye-popping assortment of colourful sprinkle toppings, including Union Jack themed decorations and Platinum Jubilee cupcake toppers.
