All you need is a cup(cake) of joe…

Shining an honourable spotlight on coffee cupcakes, the ultimate treat.
I was looking at the cold cup of black coffee I left on the table this morning, which inspired me to write this post.
I love coffee and take my first cup black every morning. Although, I'm an instant coffee type of person. Fancy stuff like coffee pods and beans have never appealed to me. Even when in Costa Rica – renowned for its high-quality coffee – it still didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I guess I like what I like. Carte Noire Classique is my go-to brand, it never disappoints.
Coffee cupcakes are something I've made a few times, but it's not officially on the menu yet. Perhaps I don't feel there's high enough demand for that flavour, but then I'm reminded of coffee cake, which is popular for more refined palettes.
Coffee cakes work for a few reasons:
Coffee is a flavour enhancer because it's strong and distinct.
It's a sharp yet balancing flavour - the acidity of coffee beautifully cuts through the sweetness of buttercreams.
It’s a nice energy boost when you need a sweet pick me up!
And if you want to be even bolder, do what I do and enjoy your coffee cupcakes with a freshly brewed cup of joe.
If you like your cupcakes less sweet with a depth of flavour, pop in an order request.
